Tayler Mercil

Higher Education and Career Advisor

Through my work, service, and daily life, I empower students to be successful in higher education and prepare them for future careers. In April 2019, I graduated from Western Michigan University with an M.A. in Communication and a designation in Teaching and Student Success. I have served professionally as an undergraduate instructor, academic advisor, and work-based learning coordinator. I am currently a Manager of Recruitment and Outreach for Western Michigan University and I teach a First Year Experience course that helps high school students transition to college.

I am a proud first generation college student and graduate of the TRIO Student Support Services and McNair Scholars programs. I continue to support their work through advocacy and by volunteering for programs that support first-generation college students. I hope to someday create my own scholarship fund to support TRIO students. What is TRIO?
